Both design and development are crucially important to a website. It is through these two processes that a website is made. When starting from scratch, or overhauling your existing website, a good design will make the visitor feel welcome, and accurately portray its, and your, purpose.

Here at Sunleaf Web we have 4 design principles that we operate off of when creating your website:

Content

Content is perhaps the most important element of a website. Content is the soul of the site, it is what those who come to your website have come for. If you look up any information on web design processes, SEO services, or page development rules, something will be said about the content.

There have been many times, when looking for an answer to a question, it was found on a nondescript and unassuming page. Good content contains simple, clear, and concise answers that your audience may have.

The content of your website is important because it is your message; your business displayed in writing. It is also he purpose of having a website in the first place! We will work with you to develop the best possible content for your site. No one knows what you do better than you, and we can help you deliver that dream in the best possible way.

Appeal

We have all seen those websites that look like they are stuck in the 90s. The awful pastel background with a low quality floral picture behind the menu, and electric color font.  Your website may be the only impression a potential costumer has of you and your business. Making it critical to have an appealing online presence. Visitors to your site want to see relevancy and a modern design.
While what is modern and current can be hard to pin down exactly, the look and feel of your website should have everything to do with who you are. The font style, size, color, pictures, and logo should all be representative of who you are as a company. All of those things can be hard to manage and balance, luckily, Sunleaf Web can help you design your perfect website.

Mobile

We understand in this age of mobile technology, that not everyone will be accessing your website via a desktop computer. More and more it will become common for people to view your site with a phone, or a tablet. These platforms have a different set of rules when it comes to how web pages are displayed.
This knowledge has to be present in the design and concept of a webpage. How will your site look when it is viewed on a small screen like an iPhone? What about an Android tablet? Planning the various artistic elements on a scale much smaller than normal is the task that falls to our designers. While this particular issue also leans heavily on the development side of a website, it is none the less still important from a design standpoint.
We want your site to look good no matter how big the screen is!

Access

Have you ever been on a website, but you can’t find what you are looking for? The careers page for job listings, the shopping cart to check out, a product description page, or that cool picture you saw. How about those huge and cumbersome menus with dozens of options? Those kind of experiences can leave you exhausted and frustrated.

You don’t want visitors to your website giving up and leaving for a competitor’s site. Making things accessible can take many forms, but simplicity reigns supreme at Sunleaf. A simple menu and layout allows for an efficient flow of information and site navigation.
Having a consistent design not only adds a sense of comfort for the visitor, it enables them to navigate explore, discover, and learn. They experience your site the same way on each page, instead of having to learn a new method for each page. This enables you to deliver your message without distraction. This concept fits closely with ease of access (see above), but has an added difficulty. Designing a site that is consistent but not boring and repetitive is a tricky task, but one that Sunleaf Web has been dealing with successfully for years.
